Densus 88 Nabs Terrorist in Lampung Linked to JAD

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian counterterrorism special squad Densus 88 arrested one suspected terrorist on its watch list with the initial K in North Lampung. The suspect was arrested on March 22, 2019.

National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo revealed the police arrested K for allegedly being part of a sleeper cell of terrorist group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), as he is known as a former member of the JAD cell in Lampung.

“Sleeper cells continue to make movements. But they are being monitored by Densus 88. The one that was arrested in Lampung was on the police’s most-wanted list. K was under our watch for some time after the arrest of terrorist Rinto or Putra Syuhada,” said Dedi at the National Police headquarters in South Jakarta on Monday.

Dedi further explained that K had undergone military training in the Lampung area. During the arrest, the police seized his mobile phone, which contained conversations between him and JAD members. 

K was the tenth suspected terrorist Densus 88 has arrested for an alleged link to JAD terrorist group led by Abu Hamzah since March 1, 2019.
